Founded in 1954, Sumol has a history of over 60 years.

Produced by joining the words Sumo (“juice” in Portuguese) and Sol (“sun”), Sumol entered the market as a slightly carbonated speciality fruit drink with orange juice free of colourings and preservatives and with suspended pulp.

Highly dynamic, Sumol set a trend: it was the first pasteurised fruit-juice beverage to appear in Portugal, the first to gain notoriety by advertising on Portuguese TV and is still today a pioneer in the use of technology, innovation and the development of new flavours. But Sumol is greater than its physical properties as a product. It is a brand which encompasses an optimistic view of life and an enterprising spirit.

Sumol believes that “life is better when the sun shines”, that “the glass is always half full” and that we should see “every moment as an opportunity”, only then can we make the most of life. Sharing this optimism with those around us makes everything even better. This is our purpose.
To offer our consumers different experiences, Sumol is available in orange, pineapple, passion fruit, apple and tropical flavours (only available in some African markets) and in individual (250ml, 330ml and 500ml) and family-size (1-litre, 1.5-litre and 2-litre) containers.
